What is your dream?
To work as an Actress and fund an NGO.
How long have you had this dream?
Since pre-school where I'd enlist my three year old sister and friends to put on plays in our back yard. One of those friends is now a successful screenwriter!
Where do you think your dream came from?
Birth, the womb or someone out in space imprinted me!
Where do you think all dreams come from?
Somewhere unexplainable, inside the abyss of one's spirit. Perhaps it's in our DNA/RNA.
When will you know that you've “made it”?
When I'm working. When I create a NGO with my sister as president.
Will you ever give up on this dream?
Not an option.
If so, what would cause you to give up?
Would have to be in the situation to say, can't imagine quitting.
How has the pursuit of your dream changed you? For the worse? For the better?
It has made me a much better person. I have developed listening skills, as acting is 98% listening. It has also made me much more compassionate as I have learned to take the focus off myself and make life and scenes about the other person. Acting is a parallel to life in so many ways. On the other side, it is a selfish dream; my family suffers because I turn down work in other endeavors that offer a very good income for the insecurity and uncertainty of employment as an Actor.
What discourages you?
Being unprepared and going to an audition anyway, bombing and feeling like I should have nailed it. Feeling like I'll lose my condo because I refuse to get a “real job” to be available for auditions and call backs.
Who are your idols and/or sources of inspiration?
Wayne Dyer, Anthony Robbins and Oprah. They all beat the odds and not only succeeded in achieving their own dreams but each give back and inspire others. They all offer a tangible game plan to succeed. They want to see others succeed.
Does your family support your dream?
After years of resistance they finally realize I'm happy, so they're happy, now.
How do you feel about their support or lack of support?
I am blessed to have a family that wants the best for me. They just want me to be happy.
Why do you think some people don't follow their dreams?
They quit. Fear.
What are your beliefs about being challenged? A part of life? An opportunity to grow? A sign to turn around and go another way?
Challenge doesn't make character it reveals it. Every opportunity is one of growth, we're either growing or dying. I believe to know yourself is to study yourself in action with others. Behavior doesn't lie.
If you could have one person, alive or dead, help you with your dream right now, who would it be and why?
God he/she could make it happen with a lot less resistance! Quentin Tarantino and Steven Speilburg because they are awesome story tellers and have the power to cast.
When was the first time you publicly declared your dream to others?
6 years old
Did that change your feelings about your dream?
no
Did others treat you differently once they knew about your dream? If so, how?
I wasn't taken as seriously, coming from an Academic family. Parents being professors and a sister who's a Rhodes Scholar. They really wanted me to be an Academic.
Is there anything you are afraid of that will happen when you achieve your dream? If so, what ?
Lack of Anonymity
If you knew you couldn't fail, if you knew that no matter what, you will achieve your dream, what would you do differently right now?
Shoot the pilot I wrote with my own financing. And eat a lot more Chocolate.
Do you believe it's important to maintain a balance in your life while pursuing your dream or do you believe it should be an “all-out effort”?
I don't believe one really ever achieves “balance” there's a constant shift in what needs attending to in life. However, if it's not 150% effort with a single minded attention to what you want I don't believe it will happen.
What advice would you give someone considering following their dream?
Quitting is not an option if you want to achieve your dream. Keep a journal to assess your growth, work on self-development and keep a positive attitude. You must take action, reassess and proceed with more action. If something's not working change it until your get the results you want. If you are in a downer mood work it out, focus on something that brings up your vibration because people like helping those they like and no one likes being around a downer! This especially includes after you “hit the big time”! Every dream includes a relationship, because we're not in a vacuum; so, develop relationships be genuine, laugh lots and Dream on! Always, Always, Always treat people with respect just as you would want them to treat you. Honor yourself. No ones opinion is stronger than the one you have of yourself.
